People of SGCI: Sudhakar Pamidighantam
Senior Scientist, Science Gateways Research Center
What is your role within SGCI and what do you do?
I am an EDS consultant and help deploy gateways and collaborate on user interfaces and backend HPC integration.
How did you come to be a part of SGCI, and why were you intrigued by the opportunity?
I became part of the Science Gateways team in Nov 2014 and was invited to review and eventually be part of SGCI program at IU by Marlon Pierce, the lead of the Extended Developer Support service area of SGCI. I have always wanted a program like SGCI to help host gateways and support gateways in a more sustainable way. As part of the team of SGRC at Indiana University and PI on another gateway it is natural for me to mentor and help other gateways and SGCI is a perfect platform to do this from.
What is the most challenging part of your work for SGCI?
The most challenging part of my work is to deploy the most appropriate gateway for the client and their community. So far it has been manageable.
How else are you involved in the technology or gateway community?
I am a PI on the SEAGrid gateway and would like to enable anything my community would benefit from and would like to generalize it for other gateways as much as possible.
What do you most like to do in your free time?
I try to meditate on freedom from time.
If you were a superhero, what superpower would you have?
I will have power to empower anybody with the same superhero capabilities.
