SC20 "HPC in the City" Virtual Hackathon Addressed Issues Local to Atlanta

SGCI, along with seven other sponsors, organized the SC20 co-located virtual hackathon on November 5-9, 2020. Named HPC in the City, the hackathon, which ran 96+ hours, was launched by the SC20 Inclusivity Committee with the purpose of engaging the community in the SC host city, Atlanta.

Hack@PEARC20 Participants Solved Real Challenges

The HackHPC@PEARC20 was a 53-hour event where up-and-coming programmers both applied and honed their skills while addressing real-world problems connected to multiple science gateways.

Hack@PEARC19 Participants Solved Real Problems Faced by Gateways

Now in its second year, the Hack@PEARC19, which took place in July 2019, attracted sixteen up-and-coming programmers who participated in the social coding event to solve real problems faced by gateways.

Report from Hacking and Making at Time-Bounded Events at CHI 2018

SGCI co-hosted the Hacking and Making at Time-Bounded Events: Current Trends and Next Steps in Research and Event Design Workshop at the CHI 2018 Conference in Montreal, Canada on April 22. The purpose of the one-day workshop was to bring together researchers and event organizers to share and learn from one another on the phenomenon of time-bounded collaborations such as hackathons, sprints, codefests, etc.
