The annual Gateways conference is the perfect venue for gateway creators and enthusiasts to come together, learn from each other, and exchange ideas. This year, 127 participants gathered at the Catamaran Resort and Spa in San Diego, CA, from September 23-25.

Hack@PEARC19 Participants Solved Real Problems Faced by Gateways

Now in its second year, the Hack@PEARC19, which took place in July 2019, attracted sixteen up-and-coming programmers who participated in the social coding event to solve real problems faced by gateways.

SGCI's 4-Week Coding Institute Exposes Students to Practical Skills and Experiences

SGCI held a four-week Coding Institute for undergraduate students during the summer of 2019. The Coding Institute includes the core skills needed to be productive in the design and maintenance of science gateways. The workshops were presented as short lessons interspersed with practical exercises. All the teaching was done through live coding.

SGCI Consultation Allows CloudLaunch to Benefit Researchers Across a Wide Variety of Fields

Working with SGCI allowed CloudLaunch to formalize and implement plans to convert a small web-app into a full-fledged science gateway. The resulting gateway can now benefit a large number of researchers from a wide range of disciplines looking to conduct research in the cloud.
