This workshop was hosted at the Center of Excellence in Remote Sensing Education and Research, Elizabeth City State University, from August 6-8, 2013. It introduced participants to common uses of Science Gateways, highlighted several approaches to modern gateway design, and walked participants through the process of building and customizing gateways for a specific science discipline. Participants used existing platforms and learn from others who are building gateways.

The Association of Computer/Information Sciences and Engineering Departments at Minority Institutions (ADMI) was established as a national organization dedicated to exploring and providing remedies to the educational issues in computer/information science and computer engineering that confront minority institutions of higher education.
