Summer Meeting for the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP)

The theme for the 2017 Summer Meeting for the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) is Strengthening Ties Between Observations and User Communities. The meeting will take place July 25-28, 2017 in Bloomington, Indiana, and will also be live-streamed on YouTube

On July 26, 2017, from 4:00-5:30 pm, there will be a breakout meeting entitled "Science Gateways for Earth Science." The goal of the session is to increase the awareness of the potential for science gateways in the ESIP community. Presented by SGCI's Nancy Wilkins-Diehr (San Diego Supercomputer Center) and Marlon Pierce (Indiana University), along with Carol Song (Purdue University), the session will feature:

  • presentations on current earth science gateways
  • a presentation on earth science and general purpose science gateway technologies that can be used as science gateway platforms
  • a presentation on NSF-funded SGCI services that can be used to develop gateways
  • a discussion of the general and specific requirements of the earth science community
