SGCI Intern to Compete in Computing4Change Competition at SC18

Congratulations to Thomas Johnson, a student at Elizabeth City State University and SGCI intern, for being selected to compete in the inaugural Computing4Change competition! The competition will be co-located with SC18 in Dallas, TX November 11-16, 2018. There are 16 undergraduate students who will compete in Computing4Change, which aims to encourage students to compute for positive change in society. During the competition, students will work as part of a team to apply data analysis and computational thinking to a social challenge while experiencing the latest tools and techniques from computing and data science.

A full list of undergraduate participants and more detail can be found on the Special Interest Group on High Performance Computing (SIGHPC) page about Computing4Change

Thomas is currently an SGCI intern at the Texas Advanced Computing Center. Last summer, he was an SGCI intern at Indiana University. Read the blog post that Thomas wrote for us after attending the Gateways 2017 conference to learn more about him.
