SCUDEM IV 2019 - SIMIODE Challenge Using Differential Equations Modeling For High School Students and Undergraduates

SCUDEM IV 2019 - SIMIODE Challenge Using Differential Equations Modeling provides teams of three students from high school and undergraduate programs to select one of three problems in physics/engineering, chemistry/life science, or social science, and use differential equations modeling to address the problem over a week-long period at their home school. Teams then gather with their coach/mentor for Challenge Saturday on November 9, 2019, in local sites around the world to share their model. See https://www.simiode.org/scudem/2019/host-sites for a growing list of sites. Students get immediate feedback through judging of their presentation, participate in a fun MathBowl, meet like-minded students, while their faculty leaders experience a Faculty Development model on how to do more modeling in a differential equations course.

The invitation to host SCUDEM IV 2019 is at https://www.simiode.org/scudem/2019/hosting. Hosts receive free registration for teams from their school and one half the $100 registration fee from each team who participates at their site.

If you are interested in hosting or would like more information contact Dr. Brian Winkel, Director@simiode.org, with your commitment or to ask questions. Registration for SCUDEM IV 2019 runs September 1 - October 25, 2019.

SCUDEM is an outreach function of SIMIODE - Systemic Initiative for Modeling Investigations and Opportunities with Differential Equations - https://www.simiode.org a National Science Foundation-funded Community of Practice.
