The Virtual Residency 2020 Summer Workshop on INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED Research Computing Facilitation will be Sunday, May 31 (dinnertime) - Friday, June 5 (dinnertime), 2020 on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus.

Tentative agenda will be available soon. Here's the agenda from the most recent intermediate/advanced
workshop: http://www.oscer.ou.edu/virtualresidency2018.php#agenda. The 2020 workshop will be similar but have plenty of new sessions.

There's no prerequisite other than an interest in helping researchers with their computing-intensive/data-intensive
research. (It may help to have attended a previous Virtual Residency workshop, but that's not required.)

Does your institution have lots of researchers and educators who want to use advanced computing, but need some help learning how? You or someone at your institution can learn to be more effective at helping researchers and educators use research computing! This is a great way to get better at a career in helping researchers use research computing. It's also a great way to meet a community of fellow research computing facilitators.

Anyone not accepted for onsite attendance will automatically be converted to remote -- no one will be left out!

Some funding will be available to help some onsite participants cover some or all of their costs, but that funding may be limited. 

The Virtual Residency has already served:
649 people at 314 institutions in all 50 US states and 3 US territories plus 7 other countries, including:

• 50 Minority Serving Institutions (16% of VR institutions);
• 84 non-PhD-granting institutions, including 4 community colleges
• 3 high schools (27% of VR institutions);
• 93 institutions in 27 of the 28 EPSCoR jurisdictions (30% of VR institutions);
• 220 of 311 Campus Champion institutions (71% of VR institutions, 70% of Campus Champion institutions);
• in the latest Carnegie Classification ratings:
  • 108 of 131 (82%) of R1 institutions (Carnegie Very High Research Activity),
  • 64 of 135 (47%) R2 institutions (Carnegie High Research Activity);
• in the latest US News rankings of national universities:
  • 10 of the Top 10 (100% of Top 10),
  • 20 of the Top 25 (77% of Top 25, because #25 is a 2-way tie),
  • 41 of the Top 50 (77% of Top 50, because #50 is a 4-way tie),
  • 75 of the Top 100 (75% of Top 100),
  • 104 of the Top 150 (69% of Top 150),
  • 120 of the Top 200 (60% of Top 200).

And, 245 of 314 of VR institutions (78%) have had participants who collectively have participated in VR activities multiple times. This takes into account all of the Virtual Residency activities: workshops in 2015-18, a couple of mini-workshops run separately by the University of California system, the Grant Proposal Writing Apprenticeship and the Paper Writing Apprenticeship.
