Apply by March 1 for Summer 2019 XSEDE EMPOWER internships

Do you know an undergraduate interested in computation, conducting their own research, and making connections within our community? XSEDE EMPOWER (Expert Mentoring Producing Opportunities for Work, Education, and Research), is an internship program where undergraduates have the opportunity to participate in actual XSEDE activities, like computational research and education in all fields of study, data analytics research and education, networking, system maintenance, and support, and visualization. The deadline to apply for Summer 2019 internships is March 1, 2019.

Undergraduate students who have the skills or are interested in acquiring the skills to work on XSEDE projects are invited to apply. Prior experience is not needed. Interns are matched with a mentor from the XSEDE community (staff, researcher, or educator) who will show them the ropes as they work together on a project which contributes to the work of XSEDE.

The program provides a stipend to students and resources for the training of those students who work on XSEDE projects for one semester, one quarter, one summer, or longer. Participation is strongly encouraged for mentors and students belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented in HPC, including, but not limited to: women, minorities, and persons with disabilities. There are three tiers of participation for students depending on the existing skill level: learner, apprentice, and intern. Appropriate stipends will support each student.
