I'm staying at the conference hotel (Hyatt House-Austin Arboretum). How do I get to the conference venue?

There will be a conference shuttle between the hotel, conference venues, and evening events. A complete shuttle schedule is on this website.

What are the evening activities?

The conference is hosting three evening activities (full details available here):

  • Tuesday, September 25, 6:30-8:30 pm: Dinner and Games at Punch Bowl Social (Included in tutorial day registration and full conference registration, also available a la carte)
  • Wednesday, September 26, 6:30-8:30 pm: Poster Session, Resource Expo, and Reception at the Blanton Museum of Art (included in full conference registration or two-day conference registration; optionally available a la carte with Wednesday conference day or alone)
  • Thursday, September 27, 5:30 pm: Optional dinner gathering at North by Northwest (NXNW) Restaurant & Brewery (not included in conference registration; attendees pay for their own meal)
What are Jumpstart Conversations?

We’re trying a new approach to enhance what used to be the Open Space portion of our conferences. The idea of Jumpstart Conversations is that all conference attendees will suggest important questions to discuss, then we’ll find common themes and coalesce conversations around those themes. You can read the complete description and schedule in Sched.

I'm presenting tutorial, paper, demo, panel, or keynote. What do I need to know?

We have a special page set up just for you, with details about submitting your final paper and presentation slides, room setups, and more.

I forgot to upload my paper/demo/tutorial/poster to figshare by the September 10 deadline! Can I still have my PDF included in the proceedings?

If you missed this deadline, you can still upload your paper/demo (and later your presentation slides) or poster to figshare (by Friday, October 19), and it will be pulled into the portal in October. Instructions are here:

Will conference attendees have access to free WiFi?

Yes, free WiFi is available at the main conference hotel (Hyatt House-Austin Arboretum) as well as at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) and the Commons Conference Center (CCC). Both TACC and CCC will provide coupon codes to access WiFi. When available, this code will be posted in the "News & Quick Links" box on the left side of the Welcome page and will also be in the printed conference program that you'll receive when you check-in.

I am presenting a poster during the evening reception and Poster Session on Wednesday, will there be a place I can store my poster during the day?

Yes, there will be a designated corner of the Balcones Room at the Commons Conference Center where posters can be stored safely.

I am leaving for the airport right after the conference concludes on Thursday, September 27. Will there be a place where I can store my suitcase and other belongings during the day?

Yes, the Lone Star Room at the Commons Conference Center is available for those who would like to store their luggage, posters, etc. before they depart for the airport.
