The Science Gateways Community Institute (SGCI) organizes a variety of opportunities, both online and in-person, that enable our community to come together for learning, exchange, professional development, and networking. All participants in the Gateways conference are required to agree with the following Code of Conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.

Code of Conduct

To provide all participants with the opportunity to benefit from our events, the SGCI is committed to a welcoming and inclusive environment for learning, inquiry, constructive discussion, respectful exchange, and intellectual freedom — regardless of ability, appearance, or identification with any group. We do not tolerate personal attacks, intimidation, disruptive behavior, or harassment in any form. Sexual, racist, or other identity-based offensive language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, social events, chat, Twitter, and other online media.

Conference participants violating these rules will be sanctioned or expelled from the conference (without a refund) at the discretion of the conference organizers. If you see or experience inappropriate treatment at any of our events, please notify us by contacting us at the conference Help Desk (via Chat or Zoom) or by emailing, the conference organizer Katherine Lawrence, SGCI team member Claire Stirm, or another member of the SGCI staff.
